Juice Fasting

Juice fasting for me is a disconnect from the outer normal world. It forces me to go deeper, to look inside and get to know my body. It really feels like hovering above ground, somewhere between heaven and earth. Sights, sounds, emotions are all heightened. I feel like my purpose has become clear. My mind is sharp .

 Sometimes I wish I could juice fast all the time, but it's just not possible. We need food . Good food , but vegetable juicing can be part of our daily routine. Morning I think is the best time to load up on minerals and vitamins and energy. It's an awesome non-caffinated boost to start the day.

All vegetables can fit into the juice menu. Beets, greens, carrots, celery, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, ...... I love to add tumeric, garlic , saurkraut, homemade apple cider vinegar, and/or ginger to every juice. It gives it zing , great taste and adds another little added bonus of antibiotics, probiotics, antioxidants .....

If you haven't heard, new information from David Wolfe about needing to have a fat consumed with vegetables puts a new light on juicing. The yellow/orange pigments in vegetables are from Vitamin A and it's many derivatives which are all fat soluable. (David calls them oil paints) This means we can't absorb them unless we drink/eat them with some kind of fat/oil: chia, avocado, olive oil, coconut, whey. Very important information. So don't forget to add a small amount of one of these fats to your juices for maximum absorption! Vitamin A (all the carotinoids) are tissue and bone builders. Pregnant women need these in big amounts for their developing babies. Everyone needs it for healthy strong bodies. Leafy greens have these pigments in them too, but they are masked by the brightness of green chlorophyll.

Raw foods are so important to maintaining health, but many people aren't aware or don't know how to eat them besides in salad form. A great way to add raw vegetables to your diet is through juices. You can get in a bunch of greens, a pound of carrots, beets, etc etc without having to eat all that. Juicing gets all that in a cup. Green smoothies are another awsome way to drink your raw fruits or veggies and greens without having to chew and chew. They are really filling and you feel great after consuming them.

I have many dreams for the future. One is that I will make vegetable juice and smoothies and sell them fresh to those who can't or don't want to make them themselves but do want to drink them. This is one of the things I'm working toward here at our farm. Until then, drink up! It's the sure way to protect yourself and your family from dis-ease.
